WHALE SHARK FUN & FACTS
The Whale Shark is a slow-moving, filter-feeding carpet shark and the largest known extant fish species. The largest confirmed individual had a length of 18.8 m Approx. 60 Feet.. The whale shark holds many records for size in the animal kingdom, most notably being by far the largest living nonmammalian vertebrate Whale sharks can grow up to 40 feet (12 meters) long, but on average they grow to 18 to 35 feet (5.5 to 12m) and weigh 20.6 tons (18.7 metric tonnes). That’s about the size of a school bus. Whale sharks are filter feeders and can neither bite nor chew. They can process more than 6,000 litres of water an hour through their gills. Various studies looking at vertebrae growth bands and measuring whale sharks in the wild have estimated their lifespans from ~80 years and up to ~130 years. Swimming with whale sharks in the middle of the ocean! While whale sharks have a huge mouth, they almost exclusively feed on plankton. That is why they are absolutely harmless to humans. They are mainly interested in fish eggs, algae and krill, and they are definitely not interested in the person swimming next to them. If you’re worried they may swallow you whole, don’t, Even though their mouths can be up to 4 feet wide and filled with 3000 very tiny teeth they are used for filtering, not biting. The whale shark can filter over 1500 gallons of water each hour to consume a diet of plankton, krill, small fish and squid.

Sharon and her team make this an awesome experience. Small groups, attention to detail and safety and great communication make this the preeminent scuba group on Isla. MUSA and Manchones were great dives with lots of coral and fish to see. Love that we got to dive our tank, which is not always the case with dive shops. Sharon, Holly, Marco, Sebastian, Wilbert, and Pedro, we will be back!
We spent 3 days with Pedro. Pedro was calm, funny and informative, he was encouraging, firm when needed but he just wanted everyone to have fun. He was excellent. I've told my sister to ask for Pedro when she visits Mexico in May this year to do her Open water PADI. Everyone else on board was lovely too, the captain and the other dive instructors were very accomodating and friendly. Especially when I got sea sick! (Take Dramamine the night before). The onboard pineapple was so delicious.
Got in a few dives over Halloween weekend with Sharon and team. Great folks. Went out of their way to take care of us. When my dive buddy got hurt and was having some back trouble Marco and Sébastien took their time and helped her in and out of the boat. Sadly she got worse overnight and we had to cancel a couple dives with them. I definitely recommend this dive shop if you are heading to Isla Mujeres
Absolute best experience ever! Sharon and her team were amazing. I highly recommend doing any dives possible with them. We’re received our PADI open water diving certification with them. You start as strangers and leave as family!
Completed 10 dives last week with the team. From the moment I walked into the dive shop I felt welcome and comfortable, everyone was super friendly. I completed dives with Marco, Pedro and Sebastian along with DM Mel. Had a fabulous week. Thank you for everything. I'll be returning!
Amazing dive shop hidden away! I highly recommend for any diver the new owners are great and help you out any way possible! I was a little short to rent the gear and they were kind enough to allow me to rent it for the price I had! What a great place and great people. If you want to dive on isla mujeres use this location. Everyone is awesome and the dives were so well planned.
Walked into Pauls shop and was greeted immediately. He was attentive and always willing to help. Booked a dive and I have to say my wife came with to enjoy a day of snorkeling. Paul snorkeled with my wife whilst I was diving with the group. I had an amazing time and so did my wife. Sabastian and I believe her name is Marie both were amazing and led their dives with confidence and we saw some really cool stuff. Check them out their outmeal cookie was fire.
Everyone was incredibly friendly and patient. We had a great experience and felt comfortable the entire time. My husband felt uncomfortable doing the dive, so they were quick to accomodate him and got another instructor to take him snorkeling instead. I went on the dive and thought the musuem and reef were gorgeous. I highly recommend.
We had a fantastic outing with 8 girlfriends; 5 of us snorkeled and 3 of us Scuba dove. We had two guides for Snorkelers; Sebastian and Melanie, and one guide Marco, for the divers. Wilbert was the captain. Everyone was stellar. The best part for me was seeing two sea turtles. It was a bit rough seas and a few of us got sick, but no one would have traded that experience for anything. It was definitely worth it. Melanie also gave us a few tips for places to visit and vegetarian/vegan restaurants on the island. (She was so great!!)
